Adding and Managing Coupons for Your eCommerce Champion WordPress Website

Your eCommerce website has a built in Coupons functionality. Coupons can be managed from the WooCommerce > Coupons screen. From there you will see the list of existing coupons, or have the option of setting up a new coupon.

  1. To add a new coupon select “add coupon” from the top of the page.
  2. This will take you to a new page where you can set the variables for your coupon
  3. At the top of the page, enter the code for your coupon. This is the code you will give customers to enter at the checkout to grant whatever discount you are offering. For test purposes you can see we have added “obeythesquirrel”
  4. Next, select your discount type from the dropdown field. The different discount types are:

  6. Apply Before Tax – This box determines if the coupon is applied before or after tax. Before tax is the most common setting
  7. Enable Free Shipping – This determines if the coupon grants the customer free shipping or not. Note: for this to work the free shipping method needs to be set up in your eCommerce settings

  9. Products – here you can search for products that are valid for use of the coupon
  10. Exclude Products – here you can search for products that are NOT valid with use of the coupon
  11. Product Categories – This gives you the ability to select entire categories that the coupon is valid for.
  12. Exclude Product Categories – This gives you the option to select entire categories to exclude from the coupon. This means that if an item is in any categories listed here, the coupon will be void for their purchase
  13. Email Restrictions – List of emails to check against the customer’s billing email when an order is placed.
  14. Usage limit – Here you can enter the amount of times the coupon can be used by a customer before it becomes invalid. The default is set to unlimited.
